Mules take to the airwaves — live on KRSH!

Four of the Mules (which constitutes a quorum per Miracle Mule by-laws) headed to Santa Rosa on a recent Friday morning to help promote their Rancho Nicasio show the following evening.  Geoff, Sandy, Dick and Brian descended on the studios of KRSH (aka Krush) radio and were welcomed to the Mindi in the Morning show by DJ Mindi Levine.  After their sound-check (which was a quick tap on each of the 3 microphones), Mindi introduced the band and interviewed Geoff about details for their upcoming show.  Geoff then segued into his original song, “Lucy” and the Mule’s first-ever live radio performance.  “That was so fun,” said Mindi afterwards, “I love what you guys are doing.”  She invited the foursome to play another song and the group obliged with Dick’s original “Bayou Delight,” which may have been a bit more lively than the live performances KRSH listeners are used to.  “Can you guys just hang out and stay here all the time?” asked Mindi. “Just follow me around, just be my soundtrack to life?”  Dick thanked her for letting them perform on the air, saying “most radio stations won’t allow an accordion within 50 feet of their studios.”

“I love how you call yourselves ‘swampy-tonk,’ ‘tail-swinging,’ ‘good-time Americana,’” said Mindi during the interview. “You guys have the best descriptions of any band ever.”  At some point during her morning segment, Mindi gave away two tickets to the Mules’ Rancho Nicasio show.  The lucky third caller didn’t hear the Mules’ live radio performance, but it was the afore-mentioned “descriptions” that caught her ear and motivated her to call in for the tickets.  She and her friend did make it to Rancho, totally loved their first-ever Miracle Mule show and made sure to get on the mailing list.  So there’s the power of radio for you -- the Mules have Mindi and KRSH to thank for [at least] two new fans.

You can hear the Mules’ first-ever live radio performance at Mindi in the Morning Interviews | The Krush 95.9.  (The recordings are in date order, so look for 3/12/25.)
